Dorie served in the Obama Administration as press secretary and key communications strategist for U.S. Education Secretaries Arne Duncan and John B. King Jr., where she developed an unmatched set of relationships with education reporters and editors around the country. Prior to joining the Obama Administration in 2013, Dorie worked in communications for the Georgia Department of Education and was the Atlanta-based national education reporter for The Associated Press, covering everything from local testing scandals to federal education policies. Dorie began her career covering higher education for the newspaper in Chattanooga, Tenn.
A native of Memphis, Dorie is the daughter of a lifelong educator and a professional clown. She graduated from the University of Tennessee with a bachelor’s in journalism. Dorie lives in Washington, D.C., with her punk rocker husband, son and a very tiny dog.
